Course Description More Details
Session 1 willcover the basics of IDEA and other relevant laws, understanding thecharacteristics and appropriate supports for each of the disability categories,appropriate roles and responsibilities of paraprofessionals, basic principlesof behavior, data collection, the differences between accommodations andmodifications, and becoming familiar with the components of an IEP.
Session 2 will focus on supporting students with disabilities in a generaleducation classroom. Topics covered include how to successfully differentiateand tier materials and assessments based on individual student needs, specializedinstruction and implementation of IEPs, behavioral supports, data collection,and compliance.
Session3 will provide an opportunity to collaborate with one another todiscuss barriers to implementation and supports needed.
This training will have face-to-face meetings and an online component.
