Course Description More Details
The Online Teaching Endorsement program is based on standards set forth by the Georgia Professional Standards Commission Rule 505-3-.95 and has been developed with additional reference to the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL) standards. This endorsement will prepare candidates to teach classes in an online environment.
Northeast Georgia RESA GaPSC approved Online Teaching Endorsement for a total of 15 PLUs. The target audience for this course is professional educators who plan to teach courses online. This program in accordance with PSC rule
505-3-.95 ONLINE TEACHING ENDORSEMENT PROGRAM.
Candidate admission to the NEGA RESA Endorsement Program requires the following:
A valid, level 4 or higher Induction, Professional, Advanced Professional, or Lead Professional teaching certificate is required for program admission.
This is a job-embedded program. Candidates must practice skills with students.
Candidates must register online under Online Registration for each course of the Online Teaching Endorsement and follow the link to print the application for system approval.
Course Descriptions
The Endorsement is divided into three courses consisting of 5 PLUs each and must be taken in sequence. Courses are to be completed in 10 weeks. Completion of the three courses is required in order to add the Online Teaching endorsement to an existing level 4 professional teaching certificate or higher.
Courses
The Online Teaching Endorsement program consists of three courses:
- Introduction and Foundation of Online Learning (50 hours)
- Design and Development of Online Learning (50 hours)
- Facilitating and Delivery of Online Learning (50 hours)
Purpose
All courses have several purposes for candidates:
- To investigate the history of online learning
- To identify and research trends in online learning
- To understand legal issues, communication, and time management in the online environment
- To synthesize course information to create an online syllabusUnderstand multiple intelligences and learning styles and their impact on online learning
- To apply student-centered instructional practices In online learning
- To create student tasks incorporating critical and creative thinking
- To investigate websites and tools used in the classroom and in online learning.
- To understand the need for adaptive/assistive technology in online learning
- To create formative and summative assessments appropriate for the online learning environment.
- To apply strategies for differentiation in online learning
- To understand environmental and cultural factors that may affect the instruction of gifted students.
- To apply communication skills to online learning
- To utilize assessment data to plan instructional modules
- To utilize observational data to monitor student progress
- To investigate and create appropriate course evaluations
- To develop and implement online learning modules
- To analyze organizational strategies for online learning and create appropriate online learning modules
- To evaluate peer created modules and provide constructive feedback
