The Mathematics Vision Project is a set of free, open-resource materials available online.  They were developed by educators in Utah with the NCTM Eight Effective Teaching Practices and the Standards for Mathematical Practice as the underpinnings for all the lessons planned within the various modules.  It was created as a resource to teachers who desire to implement the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) using a task-based approach that leads to skills and efficiency in mathematics by first developing understanding.  MVP is committed to helping educators implement the instructional standards as a part of a continuum of mathematics instruction addressing conceptual, procedural, and representational thinking; depth of knowledge; and assessment. These resources utilize engaging problems followed by time and support to grapple with solving them.  This course will highlight the MVP resources as the Eight Effective Teaching Standards and the Standards for Mathematical Practice are presented for authentic teacher use within their classrooms.  Though developed originally to support the implementation of the CCSS, these resources also fully support the implementation of the Georgia Standards for Excellence for Algebra 1, Coordinate Algebra, Geometry, Analytic Geometry, and Algebra II.
