Course description:
This course focuses on methods for differentiating instruction for gifted learners. We'll examine the characteristics of gifted teachers and their classrooms, look at methods for acceleration and enrichment, explore issues related to grouping, and look at specific strategies for developing creativity and thinking skills. Finally, we'll examine the problem of underachievement and motivation.
Course Goals
Participants in this course will increase knowledge and develop skills to:
- Match needs of gifted learners with methods and materials;
- Use acceleration and enrichment strategies;
- Develop and defend grouping plans;
- Develop creativity and thinking skills; and
Address the special needs of underachieving or unmotivated learners.
